Abstract
This article discusses the role of DNA methylation in pancreatic cancer and its potential as a prognostic biomarker. The study found that patients with operable pancreatic cancer and methylated BRCA1 and BRCA2 genes had a poorer outcome compared to those with non-methylated genes. Additionally, the article explores the impact of germline mutations in genes such as BRCA1 and BRCA2 on the prognosis of pancreatic cancer patients. Some studies suggest that these mutations may lead to earlier diagnosis, but the prognostic value remains controversial. The article concludes by highlighting the need for further research to confirm these findings and determine the clinical usefulness of DNA methylation profiling in pancreatic cancer.
