Abstract
This article, published in the Journal of Neurological Surgery, compares the outcomes of patients with vestibular schwannomas who were treated with stereotactic radiosurgery (SRS) versus surgery. The study utilized a retrospective analysis of patient data from the US collaborative network. The results showed that patients treated with SRS had significantly lower odds of experiencing hearing loss, facial nerve palsy, stroke, diplopia, or vestibular dysfunction at 30 days, 90 days, and one year compared to patients who underwent surgery. However, the study acknowledges that tumor size was not accounted for in the analysis. [Extracted from the article]
