Abstract
The study had in view the incidence of malignant tumors located in the large intestine, in the period 2000-2004. The data has been taken from records of Oncology section, part of the District Hospital Satu Mare. Through the statistical study of the data it has been taken into consideration the distribution on the two sexes, age categories, location of tumors, and type of morphology have been diagnosed. During the periods study 159 patients have been diagnosed with malignant tumor of the large intestine. The data shows an increase of cancer frequency to older adults (medium age 65-67 years), a tendency mentioned in specialty literature as well. The data obtained has showed a growth of malignant tumor to large intestine in the 6-7 decade of life. Considering the sex distribution it showed the growth frequency of tumors for male patients. The data presented in our study indicate a male/female sex-ratio of 1,48. At the large intestine, tumors have been diagnosed in the ascending colon, sigmoid, rectum and the anal canal. Following histological analysis, more morphological types of malignant tumors have been described. The adenocarcinoma represents major histological type identified in both sexes. The frequency was 36.47% of the female patients and 54.71% for male patients. Surgery is the most common treatment for colorectal tumors. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
