Abstract
The authors reflect on the impact of vancomycin-resistant enterococcal bloodstream infections (VRE BSI) on the mortality rate of patients who underwent hematopoietic stem cell transplantation (HSCT). Patients who are diagnosed with hemotologic malignacies and hematopoietic stem cell transplantation are more susceptible to acquire bloodstream infections. However, studies reveal that VRE BSI is not the leading cause of death among HSCT recepients.
