Abstract
Systemic allergic dermatitis caused by a copper-containing intra-uterine device Keywords: case report; copper; intra-uterine device; systemic allergic dermatitis EN case report copper intra-uterine device systemic allergic dermatitis 132 134 3 01/28/21 20210201 NES 210201 Systemic allergic dermatitis (SAD) is an immune-mediated, delayed-type hypersensitivity reaction. In rare cases, it has been associated with clinically relevant contact or systemic allergic reactions.2 To our knowledge, there have been only few reported cases of systemic copper allergy associated with IUD.3-12 In our case, the results of patch testing and the improvement of symptoms after IUD removal implicate copper as the causative allergen.
