Abstract
The article discusses aspects over the treatment of amblyopia. It refers to the establishment of the Pediatric Eye Disease Investigator Group (PEDIG) in 1997 by the National Eye Institute which facilitates multicenter research in eye disorders affecting children. Highligted is the focus on amblyopia as it is the most common cause of monocular vision loss in children leading to reduced visual acuity,anisometropia, strabismus, and visual deprivation.
