Abstract
The article offers information on the study of the interactions between oxide synthase (NOS) and cyclooxygenase (COX) in the rat gastric mucosa with the presence and absence of lipopolysaccharide (LPS). The study uses nonselective and selective COX inhibitors in determining the role of COX on inducible NOS (iNOS) expression in the gastric mucosa. The study shows that the LPS up-regulates gastric iNOS and COX-2, and also decreases gastric mucosal prostaglandin E2 (PGE-2) synthesis.
