Abstract
The article presents a mathematical equation to solve for the motion of an inductively loaded rail generator, in relation to energy. Accordingly, energy has two forms namely kinetic and potential. The formula given interprets that the harmonic oscillator is an important system which requires the interplay of both forms of energy. The article concludes that the magnetic field energy can be formally written as potential energy in one situation and kinetic in another.
