Abstract
The article presents information on dry eye disease (DED). DED has an effect on cornea, conjunctiva, lacrimal glands and interconnecting nerves. Information is presented on different layers of cells present in the corneal epithelium, including basal epithelium, wing cells and apical cells. The author also discusses the tear film and homeostasis.
