Abstract
The article discusses recently discovered records and documents which reveal what happened to Catherine Mary Hewitt after her fiancee of Major General John F. Reynolds died in the American Civil War. Topics covered include the couple's engagement before Reynolds fought in the Battle of Gettysburg, Hewitt's promise to enter a convent if he were to die in the battle, and the discovery of her grave in the St. Agnes Catholic Cemetery, in Menands, New York after more than 152 years.
