Abstract
This article discusses the challenges of assessing the severity of specific skin lesions in hidradenitis suppurativa (HS) from the patient's perspective. The study involved interviews with adult patients with HS, who were asked to rate the severity of different types of lesions using a numeric rating scale and a fixed response scale. The results showed that patients rated abscesses as the most severe, followed by draining tunnels and inflammatory nodules. The study also identified four themes related to the patient experience of HS lesions. The findings suggest that the current severity weightings used in outcome measurement instruments do not align with the patient experience, and more research is needed to develop a measurement tool that better reflects both patient and physician perspectives.
