Abstract
The article presents a study based on a Cochrane systematic review of dilute versus full-strength infant formula in 102 exclusively formula-fed pre-term or low-birth-weight infants. Topics discussed include the incidence of necrotising enterocolitis (NEC), feeding intolerance, and weight gain, as well as length of stay, and time to achieve full calorie intake. Also mentioned is an assessment of the effects of different dilution strategies.
