Abstract
This article, titled "Morphology of the papilla can predict procedural safety and efficacy of ERCP – a systematic review and meta-analysis," explores the impact of papilla morphology on the outcomes of Endoscopic Retrograde Cholangiopancreatography (ERCP), a therapeutic procedure for pancreaticobiliary disorders. The study analyzed 17 eligible studies and found that the regular papilla type had the lowest rate of difficult cannulation, followed by the protruding or bulging and small papilla types. The creased or ridged papilla type had the highest rate of difficult cannulation. Additionally, the small papilla type was associated with a higher rate of post-ERCP pancreatitis. The study concludes that papilla morphology can influence the safety and efficacy of ERCP procedures. [Extracted from the article]
