Abstract
The purpose of this research was to profile the semen quality of Bali polled bull. Semen was collected from three Bali polled bulls aged between 5-7 years by using an artificial vagina. Semen evaluation was carried out both of fresh and frozen-thawed semen. The qualities of fresh semen consist of macroscopic and microscopic evaluation, and Frozen-thawed semen evaluation consists of motility, abnormality, membrane integrity, acrosome status, viability, and DNA stability of the sperm. The motility of all fresh semen samples was below the minimum standard requirements. However, post thawing motility of all bulls has more than 50#x0025;, and the recovery rate value greater than 70#x0025; indicates that the sperm complies with the frozen sperm SNI standard. the quality of frozen-thawed Bali bull semen revealed motility of more than 50#x0025;, abnormality lower than 15#x0025;, membrane integrity more than 50#x0025;, acrosome status of more than 90#x0025;, the viability of more than 50#x0025;, and DNA stability is about 99#x0025;. It can be concluded that the semen quality profile of the Bali polled bull revealed that, while fresh semen motility was lower than the SNI requirement minimum standard, the quality was higher than the SNI minimum standard after freezing, indicating that the sperm resistance during the freezing process. Furthermore, the DNA integrity of Bali Polled bull frozen-thawed semen was more stable, indicating that its fertility ability was preserved. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
