Abstract
The article discusses significant aspects of the Uniform Task-Based Management System (UTBMS) to track legal costs. It provides an overview on the history of UTBMS. It also answers the three question about task codes including one on whether law firms should use UTBMS or an alternative, how granular and detailed should the codes be, and how much weight should firms put on past experience.
