Abstract
The article presents a study which suggested that Terrapene carolina major and other long-lived vertebrates can disperse to non-disturbed refugia during periods of disturbance, disturbance events may have little effect on the long-term status of a population. It mentions that the study represents the first records of box turtles surviving sudden and intense hurricane storm surges.
