KNOWING HOW TO BETTER SERVE teens with disabilities seems to be the challenge for many youth leaders today. This article guides readers into deeper reflection on how youth ministries can facilitate ministry to disabled youth. It also emphasizes the importance of seeking to develop disabled youth as all youth, such that ministry occurs with and through all young people. Leadership teams possessing qualities of intentionality, compassion, and patience demonstrate more flexibility and present as teams better able to make needed adjustments. Differential acceptance illustrates just one key approach that leaders use to create more effective bonds with disabled youth. Ministries committed to including typically marginalized disabled youth must also realize that ministry to and with primary caregivers requires the same character traits and practical efforts. Personal commitment and participation on the part of the primary youth leader is critical if such ministry is to be successful. Youth ministries reaching out to disabled youth more fully develop and meet the requirement of the church to equip everyone in the body to become and make disciples of Jesus Christ.
