The article presents the development of an updated high-quality genome assembly of Arachis monticola, a wild peanut species. The previous genome assembly had low quality, but the use of long-read sequencing technologies allowed for a higher-quality assembly. The new assembly, called Amon2.0, has improved contiguity and completeness compared to the previous version. The genome assembly will contribute to further understanding the domestication and evolutionary histories of Arachis spp. and will be a valuable resource for functional genomics and molecular-assisted breeding in legume crops.
