Abstract
The article presents a case study of a 62-year-old African woman with acute kidney injury (AKI) and Plasmodium falciparum (P. falciparum) infection along with acute tubular necrosis (ATN) and glomerular abnormalities consistent with collapsing focal segmental glomerulosclerosis (cFSGS). It mentions that the patient was treated with oral atovaquone/proguanil and renal replacement therapy. It states that an immune activation triggered by P. falciparum infection involves genetic susceptibility.
