Abstract
This article explores the occurrence and nature of cardiac injury in critically ill cancer patients. While the impact of respiratory, sepsis-related hemodynamic, and renal dysfunctions on prognosis is well-documented, there is limited data on cardiac injury. The article stresses the significance of identifying and understanding the cause of cardiac dysfunction in order to effectively manage and treat it. It provides information on the main causes of cardiac injury, their diagnosis and treatment strategies, and their potential impact on prognosis and cancer management. The document also highlights various cardiac complications that can arise in cancer patients, such as cardiac localization of cancer, cancer-related vascular implications, septic cardiomyopathy, stress cardiomyopathy, and cardiomyopathy and myocarditis. It underscores the importance of interdisciplinary collaboration between intensivists, cardiologists, radiologists, and hemato-oncologists in addressing these cardiac complications in critically ill cancer patients.
