Abstract
The author reflects on the results of the study by C. D. Prouty and colleagues on health care professionals' views on the challenges related to communicating with colleagues and patients about cancer care. She states that the researchers identified communication barriers at three levels and offered ways to promote team-focused communication within medical care. She comments that effective cancer care communication needs compassion and the expertise of health care providers.
