Abstract
The article discusses a study to improve patient safety by improving communication through the implementation of interdisciplinary round in the pediatric intensive care unit (PICU). They found that following implementation of a new rounding process, the participation of staff nurses increased by 19 percent and their reporting of overnight events increased by 57 percent. Some of the advantages of the new rounding method include reinforcing the need for nurses to be a part of rounds.
