Abstract
Systemic sclerosis can involve the skin in a limited or diffuse way. We searched MEDLINE database for a combination of MeSH terms and non-Mesh terms including "systemic sclerosis" "morphea", "keloid", "nodular scleroderma", "keloidal scleroderma", "nodular morphea" and "keloidal morphea". Patients with nodular or keloidal scleroderma seem to show less than half of the joint and oesophageal involvement (34.1% and 41.5%, respectively) compared to patients with systemic sclerosis but without nodular or keloidal plaques and fibrotic skin lesions.
