Abstract
The article reports on the results of a clinical trial of the effect of preoperative dexamethasone on nausea and vomiting after laparoscopic cholecystectomy. A description of the randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled trial is provided. The trial showed no apparent drug side-effects and no difference in postoperative pains cores and analgesic requirements. The article concludes that preoperative dexamethasone reduces postoperative nausea and vomiting in patients undergoing laparoscopic cholecystectomy and may be recommended for routine use.
