Abstract
The article presents an overview of the key issues associated with maintaining a private fleet of vehicles in business and also presents a decision framework which can be used by business enterprises to evaluate whether to outsource or not. A discussion of the advantages and disadvantages of owning a private fleet of vehicles is presented. The issues which need to be considered when deciding on whether to keep a fleet, the environmental factors associated with a vehicle fleet and the costs that are associated with keeping a fleet are discussed.
