Abstract
The article focuses on the evidence that changes to the direct interaction between hematopoietic stem cells (HSCs) and stroma contribute to abnormal HSC growth and maturation. The use of flow cytometry to compare the expression of molecules that have important functions in cell adhesion such as CD90, CD44 and CD29, and mesenchymal markers, such as CD105 and CD73 is stated. The reduced proliferative capacity showed by Myelodysplastic syndromes (MDS) and Mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs) is cited.
