Abstract
The article reports on the art and science of pediatric asthma in Great Britain. It states that possibly the most important change in the 2003 SIGN/British Thoracic Society guidelines was the recognition that diagnosis of asthma in childhood is essentially a clinical diagnosis based on the presence of typical symptoms and signs together with a clear response to a trial of medication. It also emphasize the need to document the basis on which a diagnosis is made.
