Abstract
The article discusses the ritual of canonization with reference to Baal, a character in the drama of Bertolt Brecht with the same title, and physicist Galileo Galilei. Baal’s rage in the play was a rage common to all the young people of Europe who had witnessed the horrors of the World War I. When Galileo looked for the first time through a telescope, he diminished God.
