Describes a monoclonal antibody, termed 33B8, that rapidly converts plasminogen activator inhibitor-1 (PAI-1) to the latent conformation. Mechanism of the natural transition of PAI-1 to the conformation; Use of random mutagenesis to identify the 22B8 epitope in PAI-1; Involvement of at least eight amino acids in the site.
