This article discusses the difficulties encountered by United States marines who are also Muslims upon returning to the U.S. after their tours in Iraq end. Most are not greeted as returning heroes like the other marines. Muslim marines have learned not to talk about the war with other Muslims and avoid uniforms and haircuts that might raise questions. Some returning Muslim marines have noticed a distance between them and members of their mosques.
