Abstract
The article presents a study on the pharmacokinetic profile of both oral and inhaled salbutamol in elite athletes with asthma and nonasthmatic subjects necessary in differentiating between therapeutic use and doping. The findings of the study reveal that the pharmacokinetic profile of both oral and inhaled salbutamol did not differ from one another. The study suggests the need to correct urine salbutamol concentrations for urine specific gravity when evaluating doping in sports.
