Abstract
The article presents the discussion on optimizing glycemia before fasting being an essential measure to ensure safe fasting. Topics include transplantation of isolated islet cells allowing the achievement of a more physiological release of endocrine hormones; and DiViD providing evidence about an enterovirus vaccine being effective for the primary and secondary prevention of T1D.
