Abstract
The article reports that the World Health Organization has supported the Democratic Republic of the Congo Ministry of Health to set up an enhanced surveillance system for Ebola virus disease in Mbandaka and at three remote field sites. Rapid establishment of an alert system was a priority of the surveillance strategy. The domains of surveillance, data flow, and challenges are listed. A line-list format was introduced into the EpiInfo Viral Haemorrhagic Fever data management software.
