Abstract
The article is a response to a letter by Lo et al. regarding the investigation of the seasonal association between vitamin D concentration, muscle mass, and strength in postmenopausal women. The authors of the response agree with Lo et al. that individual variations in factors such as ethnicity, physical activity, and sunlight exposure can influence vitamin D status and muscle function. They found that postmenopausal British Asian women had significantly lower vitamin D concentrations and weaker muscle function compared to White British/Irish women, particularly during the winter and spring. The authors acknowledge the need for future analyses to include these factors to better understand seasonal changes in vitamin D status. [Extracted from the article]
