Abstract
This article discusses the molecular mechanisms and potential benefits of prebiotics and probiotics. It emphasizes the importance of gut bacteria in promoting human health and highlights the roles of prebiotics and probiotics in maintaining a healthy gut microbial community, strengthening the immune system, and preventing diseases. The article presents various studies that explore the effects of probiotics on gut microbiota composition, the preferences of bacterial strains for specific prebiotics, the potential use of inulin for breast cancer prevention, the inhibitory effects of a probiotics-derived protein on colorectal cancer, the use of Lactiplantibacillus plantarum in neurodegenerative disease treatment, and the potential use of bacteriocin-producing Escherichia coli as probiotics for farm animals. The article concludes by emphasizing the need for further research and clinical trials to fully understand and recommend the use of prebiotics and probiotics. [Extracted from the article]
