Abstract
This article discusses the use of optically pumped magnetometers (OPMs) in on-scalp magnetoencephalography (MEG) to detect and localize epileptiform discharges in the mesial temporal lobe. The study involved a woman with refractory focal epilepsy who underwent simultaneous OPM-MEG and stereo-electroencephalography (SEEG) recordings. The results showed that OPM-MEG was able to detect and localize interictal epileptiform discharges (IEDs) from the right amygdala, similar to cryogenic MEG. The study suggests that OPM-MEG has potential for future clinical and research applications in patients with brain disorders. [Extracted from the article]
