Abstract
B Background: b Distal pancreatectomy with preservation of splenic vessels is a technique described by Kimura in 1996. Like the Warshaw technique, it allows preservation of the spleen in cases of left pancreatectomy, but the incidence of vascular complications (splenic infarction) is lower with the Kimura technique, specially in the surgery of elderly patients. B Conclusion: b Kimura's technique is appropriate for the treatment of distal pancreatic lesions. [Extracted from the article]
