Abstract
The article reports on the identification of five cases of Rickettsia parkeri rickettsiosis during 2012-2014 by a single urgent care practice in Georgia. All patients had known tick bite, with initial signs of erythema and swelling at the site of the bite. Immunohistochemical (IHC) stains, quantitative polymerase chain reaction (qPCR) assays, or cell culture isolation were used to determine if there was evidence of infection with a Rickettsia species.
