Abstract
Compositions of nominal formula, AgI1− xCl x ( x=0-0.25) were prepared by soft chemical method. The synthesized compositions were characterized by various physicochemical techniques. The studies revealed the formation of solid solution of AgCl in AgI up to 5 mol %. The composition AgI0.95Cl0.05 exhibited marginally higher conductivity than AgI. Electrochemical sensors were assembled using AgI and AgI0.95Cl0.05. Iodine sensing properties of these two potentiometric sensors were elucidated. Preliminary results show that I2 can be sensed down to ∼10 vppm. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
