Abstract
This article explores the evolution of carnivorous plants and their unique abilities to capture and digest small animals for nutrients. The study focuses on the role of the jasmonate (JA) signaling pathway in regulating prey digestion in carnivorous plants. While the JA pathway has been observed in carnivorous plants of the Caryophyllales order, the study finds that it may not be a common route for carnivory in other plant lineages. The authors suggest that there are multiple ways for plants to evolve carnivorous traits and that further research is needed to understand the signaling pathways involved. [Extracted from the article]
