Abstract
Despite the use of a broad-based flap to ensure adequate blood supply, perfusion defects could lead to suture failure and fistula recurrence. Curettage of the fistula tract through the external anal sphincter compared with the "core out" technique could preserve anal squeeze pressure without increasing recurrence rates [[3]].
