Abstract
The article focuses on a research that aims to describe metabolic acidosis in patients who suffer from sepsis and septic shock. It states that 60 patients with either septic shock or sepsis served as subjects of the study. Results show that patients who have septic shock or sepsis demonstrate a complex metabolic acidosis at intensive care unit admission. It adds that reduced strong ion gap and lactate levels result to survivors' acidosis resolution.
