Abstract
The author discusses the history of global immunization efforts at the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). Topics include the CDC's establishment of the Expanded Program on Immunization (EPI) in 1977, the development of the Smallpox Eradication Program, and the creation of the Global Polio Laboratory and Surveillance Network by the CDC and the World Health Organization (WHO). It also mentions the Meningitis Vaccine Project and the Measles & Rubella Initiative.
