Abstract
The article presents a letter to Helen R. Houston written by African American writer Cyrus Colter, in which he shares his personal information. Topics discussed include his education at the Youngstown University, then Ohio State University; and the University of Iowa School of Letters Award for Short Fiction to Colter's collection of short stories "The Beach Umbrella."
