Abstract
The synthesis of the low valent In-In bonded indium amide dimer [(In{N(Dipp)SiMe_{3}})_{2}(μ _{2}-η ^{1}:η ^{1}C_{5}H_{5})(μ _{2}-η ^{1}: η ^{2 }C_{5}H_{5})] (Dipp=2,6 diisopropylphenyl) (1) is reported. The complex was synthesized by the addition of [LiN(Dipp) (SiMe_{3})]_{2} to In(η ^{5}>-C_{5}H_{5}), which led to (1) apparently via a disproportionation reaction. The structure of (1) features a unique bridging of the In-In bond via two cyclopentadienyl ligands and has a short metal-metal distance of 2.7146(3)Å. Complex (1) is a unique example of a low valent indium amido species stabilized by monodentate amide ligands. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
