Abstract
A new thiolate cluster complex (BuN)[MoI(SCFH)] was synthesized by the metathesis reaction of (BuN)[MoI] and HCFSAg in methylene chloride. According to the X-ray structure determination, the cluster core {MoI} coordinates six thiolate ligands 2,3,5,6-HCFS. The Mo-Mo and Mo-I distances have their usual values. The average Mo-S distance is 2.538(4) Å, and the Mo-S-C angles range from 107 to 109°. Compound (BuN)[MoI(SCFH)] both in solid and in solution displays a bright red microsecond luminescence, which is typical of octahedral molybdenum halide complexes. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
