Abstract
This article, published in the Journal of Neurological Surgery, discusses a rare complication called Artery of Percheron (AoP) stroke that occurred after transsphenoidal endoscopic endonasal surgery (EEA) for the resection of a sellar lesion in a young female patient. The AoP is a single thalamo-perforating branch of the posterior cerebral artery that provides blood supply to the paramedian thalami and rostral midbrain. The occlusion of AoP is rare, but it can lead to bilateral thalamic ischemia. The article emphasizes the importance of early postoperative brain MRI for proper diagnosis and treatment of AoP stroke following EEA. [Extracted from the article]
