Abstract
This article provides an overview of the institutional experience with glomus jugulare and tympanicum, which are rare paragangliomas of the lateral skull base. The study identified 88 patients with these tumors, with the majority being female. The mean age at diagnosis was 54 years. Genetic mutations were found in a significant portion of the patients, with SDHx mutations being the most common. Surgery was the most common treatment, but radiation therapy was used in cases where surgery was not feasible. The authors emphasize the importance of genetic testing and a team-based approach for the management of these tumors. [Extracted from the article]
