Abstract
The aim of the study was to identify, which psychological constructs predict career decidedness of students. Survey sample consisted of 74 Slovak grammar school students (Mage = 16,51; SDage = 0,61, 63,5 % women and 36,5 % men). The analysis derives from previous research, which identified the most important predictors of career decidedness. These constructs are defined by Theory of Cognitive Information Processing. The following questionnaires were used: The Career Decidedness Scale (Lounsbury, 2011), The Career Motivation Scale (Abele, Hausmann, Weich, 1994), The Emotional and Personality Career Difficulties Scale (Saka, Gati, Kelly, 2008), The Vocational Identity Status Assessment (Porfeli, 2011) and Specialty Indecision Scale (Richard, Savickas, Early, Calli, Englert, Bono, 2007). To determine predictors of career decidedness, Enter-the type of the multiple linear regression analysis, was used. The predictors such as - career commitment, in-breadth exploration and career selfdoubt were identified. From metacognitive factors no predictors were significant. Therefore, it is advisable to focus on mentioned constructs of decision-making skills, which are also part of vocational identity. The results can help career counsellors and people whose activity is to contribute to activities related to career counselling. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
