Abstract
The article discusses basic principles of separation that can be used to size separators in the early stages of design through to the front end engineering design stages. Topics discussed include need for using separators in oil and gas processes; basic principles of separation which are based on fluid dynamics and other basic theories of physics; and vital roles played by vessel internals for oil and gas separation.
